No times are listed due to the fact that we generally have an idea of what we want to do and accomplish but usually modify our day as we go.
LION'S HEAD (Bruce Peninsula, part of the Niagara Escarpment.)
Depart from Michigan
Drive much of the day to local motel.
Check in, dinner, look around, get some sleep.
Breakfast
Grocery shopping (obtaining all the food we're going to need)
Drive to location of first day hike.
Currently, the hike planned is about an 11 mile hike over rough terrain along the Bruce Trail at Lion's Head. Good shoes are essential. Style doesn't matter here, if the shoes work, bring them, if they cause blisters, don't. During the hike, there will be rest periods and lunch halfway. All are expected to carry some gear. Bring water bottles, you'll need about 2 or 3 at least. The hike will take all day, about 8 to 9 hours, and there really is no turning back once you start.
After the hike, we drive back to town for dinner at the Lion's Head Inn. We crash at the motel or camp out for the night.
This day is full of exploring and finding things that we didn't the day before.
Early start Breakfast at the local diner.
Climbing at TV Tower Crag. This is a fun day. The location is near the ruins of an old house. Afterwards, we'll go driving around exploring. Lot's of cool stuff to see.
Since it will be about five o'clock, we'll get something to eat (maybe up in Tobermory).
Also, at night, we'll have a small group discussion. Closing out the past 4 years and gearing up for the next 4. Consider it time to reflect upon where you are and where you are going.
Don't worry, we'll find somewhere to sleep, even if it's in a field on top of the car.
Exploring the Bruce Pennisula and the Grotto.
Well, here's where things get tricky. I don't know yet know how many days we are going for. On day 3, we may have checked in at Cypress Lake National Park for camping. There is more climbing there and some really cool hiking trails to go on.
We will probably camp out here.
Day 5
After much needed rest, we depart for our journey home early in the morning.
Now, this schedule is tentative. It really depends on how early we get up there on the first day. If we left really early, then we can do the second day stuff on the first day and so on. Don't worry, as soon as I find out how many people are going and when they can leave, I'll finalize everything. Trust me, it always works out great.
